During the 1980s, a young Milanese technician was hired by an oil company and sent to work on an offshore platform in the Mediterranean. Here he discovers exhausting shifts, extremely dangerous work, cramped spaces, difficult coexistence. Men isolated from everything, lost in the sea and engaged in one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, which involves enormous economic interests. A place where deep friendships can be born, but also terrible rivalries and dangerous envy. Discovering that most of the young workers are hired with precarious employment contracts and subject to blackmail by the oil owners, Marco Radelli embarks on a path of union and militant struggle. Elected trade union delegate of the oil rig, helped by an extra-parliamentary left organization, he proves the illegality of the employment contracts signed by the trade unions themselves. His activism undermines the management of power and social control by the multinational over its workers. But on a stormy night, a technician of the oil rig disappears...
