The works that compose this volume reflect the development of the "thought of the event" that the philosopher proposed in the context of a new conception heralding important developments in his thought in the following years. The book consists of two contributions entitled Passing the sign and Kinesis: the movement of the difference between event and meaning, together with a wide array of appendices. The two contributions were composed in the late 1980s, when the international philosophical debate gravitated around relativistic lines of thought. Sini, developing his "thought of the event", was instead proposing a new conception of semiotics, cosmology and technology: a hermeneutic difference that would trigger the developments of the 1990s. From here he started the great project of a re-foundation of the encyclopedia of knowledge which found its fulfillment in Transit of Truth.
