Under the aegis of a universalism of human rights and democracy, a certain dominant culture of what we call “the First World” aspires to global hegemony, animated by the thirst for power and driven by economic interests. In this context, peace requires much more than good will: it requires the understanding and knowledge of the others, impossible effort without the implementation of the practice of interculturality as a capacity to transcend its point of view not in the direction of cultural relativism and the fragmentation of human nature, but in the sense of a human universal invarant. Peace of humanity demands what we can call a disarmament of cultures: it is a subversive opening that destabilizes and enriches us at the same time.
