Minibum, a curious and nice ‘ion’, the protagonist of our story, takes small children back to the very beginning of our Universe, also called the Big Bang. Before the Big Bang there was nothing, no earth, no sky, no stars, not even mum nor dad …. Everything was concentrated in a very small point. This small point contained lots of particles called electrons, protons, neutrons, bosons…One day the small point exploded releasing all the particles it contained. And so began the Universe which has been expanding ever since. Using much creativity Lara Albanese, winner of the 2013 Italian Andersen Award for commitment to the promulgation of science, tells a fascinating story through which small children can discover the origin of the world and of life. The book is lavishly illustrated with Anna Cattaneo’s fantasy full pictures. It is appropriate for pre-school children, but can also be used to introduce the Big Bang theory to children in the early years of primary school.
