The Bible, or the unification of the Old and New Testaments, gave rise to the development of extraordinary scholarly and artistic achievements in the Mediterranean, Middle East and, above all, in Eastern and Western Europe since Late-Antiquity. The archive housing the most rich and varied collection of Bibles, in both their scriptural and artistic expression, is the Vatican Library. This collection has been made available to scholars working on this volume in order to create an accurate chronological history whilst examining the written and illustrative themes of the Bible. This volume is a journey through the Bible from Late-Antiquity to the Renaissance era, which, although experienced first-hand by major international scholars, now allows non-academic readers to marvel at the wisdom of the writings and beauty the illustrations. An unpublished work in progress.
