Written by jacabook

The author, Antonietta Iolanda Lima, a distinguished historian of contemporary architecture who had her academic training with Zevi, has followed for many years the work and the studio of the Neapolitan architect, born in 1937. The work examines the periods of the studio’s life and illustrates all the great achievements in chronological order: from the multifamily homes around Naples to the schools, the new university complexes in the South of Italy, among which the University of Calabria at Arcavacata. Still in Naples, we can find the “City of Music” and the important intervention for the “City of Science” with its centre of high training, up to the recent and celebrated realization of “Corporea”, the museum of the human body. Massimo Pica Ciamarra has been invited to Genoa to take part in the restructuring of the old harbour, and also to Pistoia, Vicenza, Pechino and elsewhere. The landscape has always fascinated him; like Soleri, he has made a mission of his relationship with nature. Hence comes his deep interest in the interventions in urban regeneration.
