Review
In the journey of thought of the Moroccan philosopher Mohammed Aziz Lahbabi, Le personnalisme musulman (appeared in 1964) represents the stage in which the author, for his aspiration to a “philosophy of the concrete reality of man”, make an effort in deepening the personalistic bases of Islamic culture, placing himself effectively in the difficult role of innovator of his culture and at the same time pointing to a universal path of peace. Only through the most rigorous re-affirmation of the person, it is possible to promote a union of cultures, which is so necessary today in this time of strong conflicts. This is what the intellectuals affirmed in France after the Second World War, on the magazine “Esprit”, to which Lahbabi also contributed, emphasizing the need for a “liberation” not only for the Third World, but also for the First World, the first victim of that depersonalising modernism that undermines its past and endangers the survival of peoples.
