Review
The book − which makes use of an interesting preface by Professor Roberto Battiston, President of the Italian Space Agency − intends to look at how much theology, inserted in the context of contemporary culture and science, has to say about the ultimate destiny of the universe. All this knowing well that between the creation of the beginnings and the appearance of the new heavens and the new earth in the parodiacal exchaton of Christ, the universe does not give way to only displacement and fragmentation, but also to continuity and progress. It is divided into two parts and consists of five extensive chapters. Thanks to the incredible contributions to scientific research achieved over recent decades and comprehensive reflection of some of the most important modern theologians, this work reflects upon the importance of the Christian eschatology in the context of contemporary cosmology and offers a critical comparison with so-called physical eschatology. It also highlights the growing value of the most recent discoveries in the field astrophysics and cosmology in order to “rewrite” some of the most controversial pages of theological eschatology. “What is the relationship between the first three minutes and the last minutes of the universe?" This is the question that guides this work.
